Bill 22-0223 was Inspired by PFFC’s Downtown DC Public Restroom Initiative and its contents are drawn from lessons learned and best practices that we have identified in cities in the US and elsewhere that have successfully installed and maintained clean, safe, public restrooms available to EVERYONE 24/7.

Bill 22-0223 proposes the establishment of a working group consisting of DPW, DGS, DC Water, DDOT, DPR, and DHS . Together they will be responsible for:

— Identifying — in close consultation with ANCs, BIDs, and community associations –up 10 sites with limited access to public restroom facilities where a clean, safe public restroom available 24/10 might be installed.
— Authorizing the creation of a subsidy program for private entities to open their restrooms to the public.

The Bill also requires the MPD and the Mayor to provide annual public restroom reporting.

There are several ways you can help ensure the passage of Bill 22-0223:

1. Go to this Action Network Link where you will be asked to either email all members of the Committee on Transportation & Environment lend your support to this Bill or call the five Council Members who are on the Committee (their telephone numbers are provided).

2. Send this link to others encouraging them to also send an email or place a call in support of Bill 22-0223.

3. Attend the January 10 hearing to show your support.

Many thanks from all of us on the PFFC Downtown DC Public Restroom Committee,

George, Janet, John, Leonard, Marcy, and Nick[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
