On December 19th  and 20st,  The People for Fairness Coalition  will host their 7th annual Homeless Persons Memorial Vigil. This powerful event remembers those from DC’s homeless community who have passed away over the past year.

Join us at the Homeless Memorial Vigil from 5 pm, December 19th  to 1 pm, December 20th.

We are deeply concerned about that in spite of efforts by the Mayor to increase availability of affordable housing in DC, thousands of citizens remain in shelters or sleeping on the streets. Access to affordable housing is key to health and wellness, the theme of this year’s vigil. Access to affordable housing saves lives. Let us remember those who died without the dignity of a home in 2019, and hope that in 2020, with increased availability to affordable housing , fewer people will die in the District.

We hope that you will join us in solidarity for an opening service starting at 5:00 PM at Luther Place Church (1226 Vermont Avenue). The vigil will culminate on Friday December 20th at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church at 12 noon, where the names of those who died in 2019 will be read and honored.
