On Wednesday, April 5, 2017 DC Council Member Brianne Nadeau introduced the Public Restroom Facilities Installation and Promotion Act, Bill 22-223 This bill replaces B22-61 — the Public Restroom Facilities Task Force Act of 2017 — introduced in January.

The objective of BS22-223 is: “To establish a working group consisting of DC Water, the Department of Transportation, the Department of General Services, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Department of Public Works to coordinate installation of at least 10 public restroom facilities in areas of the District with limited access to public restroom facilities; to authorize the creation of a subsidy program for private entities that keep their restrooms open to the public; and to require the Metropolitan Police Department and the Mayor to provide annual public restroom reporting”.

This legislation was inspired by a presentation delivered to Council Member Nadeau by members of PFFC Downtown DC Public Restroom Committee on November 14, 2016.
