Since May of this year, in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, we, the People for Fairness Coalition and Serve Your City, have been doing outreach every Sunday afternoon to individuals living in homeless encampments in DC’s NoMa area.

Accompanied by an increasing number of supporters – from the local ANC, students from Gonzaga, volunteers from the Ward 6 Mutual Aid Network – we have been distributing items that people living in these encampments tell us they need, among them: face masks and hand
sanitizer, wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Through our outreach we have gotten to know the residents of these encampments, had an opportunity to learn about their needs and concerns, and we are organizing listening sessions so that these needs and concerns can be shared with relevant authorities.

We are deeply committee to addressing housing instability in DC. We thank our financial supporters and our dedicated volunteers that join us every week. And we look forward to continuing to serve individuals living in the NoMa encampments and expanding our outreach to other encampments in DC during the COVID-19 epidemic.
